Three LPG-operated cremation chambers installed in two cremation grounds of Sahnewal: PYDB Chairman
Bindra thanks the Highway Industry for helping in this noble cause
Ludhiana: Punjab Youth Development Board (PYDB) Sukhwinder Singh Bindra on Friday said that three LPG-operated cremation chambers have been installed in two cremation grounds falling under the Sahnewal sub-Tehsil of the district.
Addressing a press conference, PYDB chairman along with Additional Deputy Commissioner (UD) Sandeep Kumar said that these chambers cremate a body within an hour and three bodies can be cremated by using two LPG cylinders. He said the cremation through the chambers is not only cost-effective over conventional wood-based crematorium but also time-saving process.
He added that these eco-friendly chambers will help to stop deforestation and will save 40 lakh trees in a year. He also said that around 4 quintal-woods usually require in a conventional system for cremating one body.
The Chairman expressed gratitude towards Umesh Munjal, Amol Munjal, Ankur Munjal from Highway Industry for donating Rs 15 lakh for three chambers under the CSR initiative.
He said that the representatives of cremation grounds had requested him for the LPG-operated cremation chambers month ago.
Bindra claimed that PYDB has been already making concerted efforts to help everyone and also immensely contributed to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic by giving 2500 PPE kits and arranging 200 vaccination camps.
