Ludhiana, February 25, 2013: Vikas Jain, Manager- Zonal Marketing (North), TI Cycles of India, has said with a turnover of Rs. 1,260-Cr and a year-on-year growth of 15 percent in FY 11-12 TI Cycles was a market leader in the ‘specials’ segment of cycles.

Jain who was here for participation in the India-International Cycle Expo 2013, which concluded on Sunday, told City Air News on Monday that TI Cycles had the capacity to manufacture 5.4 million cycles a year at 3 plants across India - Chennai in the South, Nasik in the West and Noida in the North.

Adding, he said standing for the core promise of fun, fitness and freedom, TI Cycles offered consumers a range of bicycles, e-scooters, fitness equipments and infant mobility solutions.

He said their flagship brand, Montra had become a part of their premium range under the umbrella brand of Track and Trail. Track & Trail had over 85 stores and shop-in-shops in India where one could find the best cycling brands like Cannondale, Bianchi, Schwinn, Mongoose and GT.

Montra was also put to display in the expo.

Jain told that they had received overwhelming response from their dealers from across the country. He said about 400 dealers turned up in the expo, which concluded here yesterday, adding they were satisfied with their participation in the expo.

He told that the main benefit of their participation in the expo was that all the dealers from across the country had an easy excess to them and the dealers also got a chance to see a variety of range of products of the company. Besides, dealers of the other companies got a chance to see products of other companies, he said.

Talking about TI Cycles of India, he told that TI Cycles was established by the Murugappa Group in the year 1949, in collaboration with Tube Investments, UK. The first Hercules bicycle rolled out in 1951. Three more brands were added to the portfolio - Phillips in 1959, BSA in 1964 and Montra in 2011. TI Cycles had practically created and perfected every new cycle category in the country, he said.

The first MTB, the first geared bike, the first Shox model, the first girls’ bike, the first kids’ bike, the first light roadster and the first carbon frame bike were all introduced by TI Cycles, he revealed.

“With the changing urban retail environment, TI Cycles has introduced over 200 urban BSA Hercules exclusive stores, which have revolutionised the bicycle industry in India”, he said, adding the company had started over 200 Hercules BSA Cycles stores to provide the urban retail buying experience in smaller towns.
