Ludhiana police salutes traffic marshals who are performing selfless service: commissioner of police
Ludhiana: In view of the ongoing curfew/lockdown, the Punjab government and District Administration has made elaborate arrangements to ensure that the migrants reach their home states safely. The traffic marshals deputed by the Ludhiana Police are playing a vital role in facilitating the journey of the migrants to their home states.
It is pertinent to mention that the District Administration, Police Administration and Municipal Corporation Ludhiana are working jointly this drive of sending migrants to their home states. As per this drive, the migrants are first brought to the Guru Nanak Stadium from Collection Points set up near their respective homes in buses, and on the completion of their medical screening, they are handed over rail tickets, water and food, before they proceed towards the Railway Station, from where they start their journeys to their home states. Almost all the senior officials are working 24X7 to ensure that this work goes on smoothly and the traffic marshals are also playing vital role.
Mr Mandeep Keshav Guddu, Incharge of Traffic Marshals, informed that all the traffic marshals are performing selfless duty as volunteers along with the Ludhiana Police towards the betterment of our society. He said that the Commissioner of Police has deputed them in three different shifts, that go on round the clock and each shift has around 80 volunteers.
He informed that when the migrants reach Guru Nanak Stadium in buses, they ensure that the migrants form proper lines for medical screening, tickets and food/water. He said that the migrants have to pass through 5 different barricades. He said that the volunteers assist the District Administration and Ludhiana Police in works such as checking of tickets, medical screening, providing food and water, scanning of barcodes on tickets, etc.
Commissioner of Police Mr Rakesh Kumar Agrawal informed that at present, 2890 traffic marshals are performing selfless duty as volunteers in areas under Police Commissionerate Ludhiana. He said that if any person wants to assist the Ludhiana Police as a traffic marshal, they can get themselves registered on the “traffic marshal app”, after which the Ludhiana Police would themselves contact them. He said that the entire Ludhiana Police salutes these traffic marshals for performing duties in today’s testing times.
