TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT SHOULD TAKE STRICTER ACTION TO CHECK NOISE POLLUTION BY VEHICLES: DEPUTY COMMISSIONER

Ludhiana, July 31, 2018: A meeting to ensure residents of Ludhiana district get good quality and pesticide free eatables without any adulteration, clean environment etc, a meeting under Mission Tandrust Punjab was organised under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal, here today. In this meeting, the progress of various departments under Mission Tandrust Punjab was also reviewed by the Deputy Commissioner.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Transport Department officials to check pressure horns in vehicles strictly so that there is no noise pollution and if any person is found using them, the pressure horns should be removed and the person should be challaned. The Forest Department officials informed that under the Mission Tandrust Punjab, 3,05,669 tree saplings have been distributed in the district till July 2018. They stated that they had fixed a target of planting 3.5 lakh tree saplings, that would be achieved soon. They informed that the residents can avail free tree saplings by using the i-hariyali mobile app.

The Health Department officials informed that in view of the rainy season, samples of drinking water, soft drinks, fruits, vegetables and eatables are being taken. They said that every Friday is observed as a dry day and checking of water containers, coolers, old tyres, pots, broken utensils etc was done and larvae samples were taken and anti larvae spray was done.

The Agriculture Department officials informed that for educating the farmers, awareness camps are being organised in different parts of the district. They stated that checking of pesticide shops in Jagraon block was also carried out and samples were taken.

The Deputy Commissioner took strong notice of the absence of some departments in the meeting and directed ADC (D) Dr Shena Aggarwal to issue show cause notices to the departments. The meeting was also attended by ADC Khanna Mr Ajay Sood, besides several others.
