Tree Plantation Drive by PI-RAHi at Panjab University
PU-IIT Ropar Regional Accelerator for Holistic Innovations (PI-RAHI) Foundation, Northern Region Science & Technology Cluster, sanctioned by the o/o PSA, Govt. of India, initiated Tree Plantation drive in association with Horticulture Department, Panjab University, Chandigarh, under the campaign 'EkPedMaaKeNaam' today.
Chandigarh, July 25, 2024: PU-IIT Ropar Regional Accelerator for Holistic Innovations (PI-RAHI) Foundation, Northern Region Science & Technology Cluster, sanctioned by the o/o PSA, Govt. of India, initiated Tree Plantation drive in association with Horticulture Department, Panjab University, Chandigarh, under the campaign 'EkPedMaaKeNaam' today.
The Chief Guest of the function was Navneet Srivastava, Deputy Conservator of Forests, and Director, Science, Technology & Renewable energy, Chandigarh Administration. Srivastava was briefed about the various activities of the cluster and possibility of collaboration with Department of Science & Technology & Renewable energy, Chandigarh.
Prominent among those present were Prof. Naveen Gupta, Chairperson, Microbiology Department, Prof. Desh Deepak Singh, Chairperson, Biotechnology Department. Dr. Rachana Singh, Chairperson, Department of Microbial Biotechnology, Prof. Prince Sharma, Dr. Seema Singh, Dr. Khem Raj from Microbiology, Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Principal Investigator, PI-RAHI and Ms. Neha Arora, Chief Operating Officer of PI-RAHI. Dr. Parveen Goyal, NSS Coordinator, Panjab University also was present to motivate the students about the green initiatives on the campus.
Over 100 students, faculty members and staff were present during the event and planted plants like Royal Palm, Ashoka, Pride of India and Chandani. Saplings were planted in area around Technology Block and the Department of Microbiology.
Srivastavaji appreciated the imitative of the Cluster to bring in environment consciousness among the youth. During the event students took pledge to take care of the plants. More than 100 samplings were planted and the target would be plant 500 plants/shrubs under the current campaign at various locations on South Campus.
