Tree plantation drive initiated at Panjab University

Chandigarh, June 6, 2023: To mark the World environment Day, a tree plantation drive was initiated at the Panjab University, Chandigarh today, under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Renu Vig.
On this occasion, saplings of shrubs, herbs and flowering plants were planted around the CIL/SAIF and student centre to beautify the campus. During this drive the University plans to plant around 8000 saplings in the main campus and south campus of the Panjab University. Prof. Renu Vig motivated the gathering to take the 21Day challenge pledge under the “LIFE- Lifestyle for Environment” mission of the Govt. of India
Prof. Jatinder Grover, Dean Student Welfare, Dr. Rajeev Kumar, Chairperson, Department of Environment Studies, Prof. G.R. Chaudhary, Director SAIF/CIL, members from horticulture division, students and staff participated in the activity.
This event also marked the culmination of the activities under World Environment Day week celebrations carried out by the Department of Environment Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh from 30th May, 2023 to 5th June, 2023.
