Trident Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament all set to start on Dec 18, final on December 27

Ludhiana: The inaugural edition of the PCA approved State level League cum knock out Invitational Trident Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament is all set to get underway from December 18th to 27th at Ludhiana.  The Tournament is being jointly organized by Ludhiana District Cricket Association (LDCA), an affiliate of Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) and Hara Cricket Club, Ludhiana. The tournament is sponsored by Trident Group of Companies and carries a cash prize of Rs  1.50 lacs for the Winner team and Rs 75000/- for the Runners up team.

A press conference was organized today at Ludhiana by the LDCA to rollout the schedule of the tournament & unveil the Trident Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament Trophy. The same was attended by Bhupinder Singh Sr, former International player & member of the organising committee, Satish Kumar Mangal, former Ranji Trophy player, President LDCA , Anupam Kumaria Hony Gen Secy LDCA, Sunny Bhalla Hony Gen Secy LDCA and Councillor MC Ludhiana , Sukhjeet S Hara of Hara Cricket Club.

Speaking on the occasion Sunny Bhalla, Hony General Secretary said that MC Ludhiana has agreed to allot 6 acres of land to LDCA and further LDCA has made a request for another 4 acres of land to PCA to make a world class cricket stadium In Ludhiana for promotion of cricket.

Bhupinder Singh Sr, former International player & member of the organising committee informed that Top teams from Punjab are participating in this prestigious Trident Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament, which will see 15 matches being played within a span of 10 days at GRD Academy grounds, Humbran Road, Ludhiana and Hara Cricket Academy ground, Village Badhowal, Ferozepur Road, Ludhiana.

8 teams playing the tournament have been put in following 2 groups:

Each team will play 03 league matches and top 2 teams from each group will clash in the semi-finals and subsequent winners will figure in the final match. Two matches will be held daily at above mentioned venues  and the  will start at 11 am. All prescribed precautions of State Govt. in handling COVID 19 situation will be taken care of strictly.
The highlight of this tournament will be participation of leading cricketers like Mandeep Singh, Gurkirat Singh Mann, Sandeep Sharma, Barinder Sran, and promising IPL players like Anmolpreet Singh, Arshdeep Singh, Harpreet Brar, Prabhsimran Singh who will represent various teams adding glamour to the tournament.
The tournament will be played as per the Rules and Regulations of BCCI and will be officiated by State panel umpires/ scorers etc.. All matches will carry “Man of the Match” prize. The tournament will also attract individual prizes for Best Batsman, Best Bowler, and Best All Rounder etc. The tournament will be played with coloured clothing and White Ball.
Bhupinder Singh Sr, former International player & member of the organizing committee informed that the Inaugural ceremony will be formally held on 18th Dec morning at GRD Academy grounds. Sh. Rakesh Aggarwal, IPS, Commissioner Police, Ludhiana has very kindly consented to be the Chief Guest for the inauguration ceremony and  Sh. Bharat Bhushan Ashu Ji, Cabinet Minister, Punjab and Sh. Varinder  Kumar Sharma , IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana will be the Guests of Honour on the occasion . He also informed that the sponsors Trident Group are keen to organize a series of cricket tournaments for all age groups in the coming months as an initiative to promote the game in the entire state of Punjab.
Satish Kumar Mangal , former Ranji Trophy player & President Ludhiana District Cricket Association (LDCA)said that the Trident Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament is all set to become an annual feature in the calendar of PCA (Punjab Cricket Association) and will go a long way in emergence of new heroes on the State cricket scene by performing in the tournament.
