Summer has arrived. While we splash in the sun and relax on the sand, it is also time to take care of our skin to avoid getting oily, dull, and tanned. &TV artists Vidisha Srivastava (Anita Bhabi, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai), Mouli Ganguly (Mahasati Anusuya, Baal Shiv), Farhana Fatema (Shanti Mishra, Aur Bhai Kya Chal Raha Hai?), and Himani Shivpuri (Katori Amma, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan) share their best-kept summer skin care home remedies.
Vidisha Srivastava, aka Anita Bhabi, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, shares, “I believe that keeping your face hydrated is very essential on hot summer days. After working up and travelling a sweat in the summer heat, you may find that your complexion looks overly oily. The best thing to do to stay hydrated is to drink plenty of water as your skin will stay brighter and glow. I suggest everyone keep a bottle of water handy every time and, externally, whenever you come from doing any outdoor activity, wash your face thoroughly and rinse with a clean towel. Also, watermelon juice is a good skin toner and relieves summer dryness too. It cools, refreshes, and softens the skin”. Mouli Ganguly, aka Mahasati Anusuya, Baal Shiv shares, “I love all things natural and organic. Along with drinking proper juices for my skin, I also apply homemade face packs and natural scrubs to moisturize my skin in summer. My basic summer hack is to use a facial natural scrub once a week made from ground almonds or rice powder mixed with yoghurt and a pinch of turmeric. Apply it to the face and rub gently with small circular strokes. It gives you just the perfect glow and nourishment your skin needs on hot humid days.” Farhana Fatema aka Shanti Mishra, Aur Bhai Kya Chal Raha Hai? Shares, “I have always loved to keep my skin clean and fuss-free by relying on my kind of skincare, especially for summer. I always prefer using a face scrub, which is a mixture of two tablespoons of sea salt with one tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and a few drops of olive oil. At least twice a week to remove excess dirt and oil from the skin. I advise everyone to apply buttermilk after a lot of sun exposure. This will not only provide relief to burning skin but will also lighten the tan as curd has natural bleaching properties. Make sure you exfoliate the lips and neck too. Trust me, the results are magical”. Himani Shivpuri aka Katori Amma, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan shares, “I have naturally oily skin, so summers are a completely different story for me. I have tried the best products, but nothing has worked so well for my skin. In childhood, my grandma’s household remedies of cucumber juice for summer created wonders for my skin. Cucumber juice or its pulp can be mixed with two teaspoons of powdered milk and one egg white. You can blend the ingredients into a smooth paste. Apply it to the face and neck and rinse after 30 minutes. So, all you ladies with oily skin, do try this at least twice a week. Also, for ageing skin, one must always intake fresh vitamin C fruits. It helps rejuvenate the skin and keeps it fresh. I always drink an orange or lime juice before leaving for a shoot”.
