Two-Day Media Fest ‘Xpressions’ concluded at LPU Campus
School of Journalism, Film & Creative Arts organized the fest with 8 competitions & 9 elite guests
Jalandhar: The School of Journalism, Film & Creative Arts at Lovely Professional University (LPU) organized two-day media-fest “Xpressions-2023”, with eight competitions & nine elite guests. Hundreds of students of 14 universities from across the country also participated in the fest.
The concluding ceremony was chaired by ADGP (Pb) IPS M F Farooqui, who applauded LPU for adding more humane understanding to the mere bookish knowledge of its students. He also shared that no knowledge is complete without those of finer-arts. The concluding ceremony was having a ‘Mushaira (Poets Meet)’, where national poets of Urdu language expressed couplets full of human values, which were well imbibed and appreciated by the students of professional programs.
Participating poets (Shayar) were Farhat Ehsas, Khushbeer Shaad, Nusrat Mehdi, Manish Shukla, Mukesh Alam and Ranjit Chauhan.
On the inaugural day, eight competitions were held for photography; mobile short films; poetry writing & reciting; reels; RJ hunt; anchor hunt; media quiz along with ad-mad shows, screening of films and street-plays (Nukkad-Natak). Many hundreds of participating students revealed their inner strengths of talent in an encouraging environment.
Prior to this, prominent media personalities, including Editor in Chief Vijay Trivedi of News TV, Journalist Atul Chaurasia and Documentary Film- Maker Anwar Jamal also interacted with participating students. All of them shared important tips with students so that they excel in the diverse media fields confidently and prominently. They discussed various dos and don’ts with the students, while working with sensitive considered media domains. They also shared certain encouraging anecdotes from their lives in the related field. Participating students also got the opportunity to interact with stalwarts, who answered to all of ifs and buts posed before them.
Out of eight competitions, host LPU was declared winner in five including Media Quiz, Poetry, Ad Mad Show, Photography and Nukkad Natak. Amity University and International University Noida declared second Runner Up in Photography and Mobile Film Making. CU Mohali won Mobile Film Making, Anchor & RJ Hunt competitions.
