Chandigarh, October 31, 2014:   INFUSION -2014, a two-day National Seminar and workshop on Food & Beverage Service Industry: Modernisation, Innovations and Opportunities started today at University Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism (UIHMT) Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh.

The seminar was inaugurated by UT Home Secretary  Anil Kumar. World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) approved Culinary Judge and former Vice President ITDC, Chef Sudhir Sibal delivered the Keynote address on this occasion.

Director IITTM Gwalior Prof. Sandeep Kulshreshtra, Prof. Mohinder Chand, T.K. Razdan, Avinash Deshmukh was the Guest speaker and Guest of Honour.

The inaugural ceremony was followed by a plenary session chaired by Mohinder Chand, from Kurukshetra University. The session observed the view points of noted speakers like  Ashish Dahiya,  Anil Mathur,  Anmol Luthra on the various issues pertaining to tourism, hospitality and allied sectors.

The day also witnessed technical session where delegates  shared their research work with the house and enlightened the audience with latest trends and issues in the Food & Beverage Service Industry.

UIHMT Director  R.K. Gupta welcomed all the delegates. He said that the current seminar was aimed at bringing industry, students and academic researchers on a common platform so as to examine the overall food & beverage service industry, especially with respect to different discipline.

The organising Secretary of the Seminar,  Abhishek Ghai, introduced about the seminar. The seminar will be an endeavour to explore in-depth the different aspects of food service industry, various food & beverage service practices adopted by the industry, wine tourism, awareness of infusion drinks, issues and challenges of bar & beverage operation with other areas such as innovation, social and cultural issues, and other research areas, he added.

This will not only bring in academic perspectives but also industry inputs. The setting sun of this seminar will chart a path for the future research agendas in F&B service industry which will be treaded jointly by industry and academics hand in hand.

The Next Day session on Molecular mixology which will be inaugurated by PU Registrar Col. G.S. Chadha (Retd.) and the resource person for the seminar will be Kamalaksh, Director, 247365 Bar New Delhi. The Key speaker for the Valedictory Session will be Chef Pallav, Director F&B, J. W. Marriott, Chandigarh.
