Two Russian Nationals arrested in McLeodganj for overstaying visas
The McLeodganj police have arrested two Russian nationals for overstaying their visas. The individuals, a woman and a man, were found residing in McLeodganj despite their visas having expired. The police have registered a case against them under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act and initiated further investigation.

The individuals, a woman and a man, were found residing in McLeodganj despite their visas having expired. According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Kangra, Shalini Agnihotri, the Russian nationals are Yulia Julanova and Denis Larin. Julanova's visa expired on September 3, 2015, while Larin's visa expired on January 11, 2024. Yulia Julanova had been living in India without a valid visa for the past nine years and had previously resided in Goa before moving to McLeodganj.
"This is a clear violation of visa regulations, and we have taken appropriate action by arresting them and initiating legal proceedings," said SP Agnihotri. "We are committed to maintaining the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of our residents."
The police have begun further action to determine the circumstances of their prolonged stay in India and to ensure that appropriate legal measures are taken. This case underscores the importance of adhering to visa regulations and highlights the vigilance of the Kangra police in enforcing the law.
