UCPMA constitutes sub committees and boards

Ludhiana, September 8, 2012: An urgent meeting of the Managing Committee of UCPMA was held under the presidentship of Gurmeet Singh Kular.
Discussions were held on different issues.
Regarding the Processing Fee by the Excise and Taxation Department:
This point was discussed in the detail and members showered there strong resentment against the levied of this Fee of Rs. 800 which is to paid from October 2012 by filing of Quarterly Return.
Further it was proposed by Members that if the government really wants to impose the processing fee then it should be like TDS return filing fee (Rs. 30) is to be charged   as processing fee. Failing which, the small scale industry will be in troubles which are already relying under crises while paying Rs. 800 which is on the very higher side.
Regarding Levy of  Property Tax:
Recently Punjab Government is going to levied Property Tax @2% on the industry which was strongly condemned by the members which will ruin the MSME units and government has bears to be ignoring the interest of Industry.
The play being taken by the government that if they do not impose this tax the grant to be taken in the state is not be released. It was proposed by the members that if this is to be done it should not be in the shape of Property Tax but should in former House Tax which should be very nominal in doing so the government will get more funds for the Government exchequer. 
Regarding enhancement of Electricity Bill from 01-04-2012:
The member by of the view that the government has put and unbearable burden by increasing the electricity freight from the above date and even the members have received bills on increased dates.
This shows that the Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd has not taken account the position of the MSME units which are unable to pay the same in lump sum as they are already facing problems i.e. labour shortage and recession in the market and also to some extent in increasing the cost of Raw Material etc.
Finally it was decided that a delegation of the association should have a meeting with the PSPCL chairman KD Chaudhary and to request him to withdraw this notification. So that industry may have a sigh of relief.
