UCPMA delegation meets PSERC chairperson

Ludhiana, February 6, 2013: A delegation of UCPMA under the leadership of Gurmeet Singh Kular, President, UCPMA had a meeting with Romila Dubey, Chairperson of Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission today at Multipurpose Hall, Power Colony Sarabha Nagar, PSPCL Ludhiana regarding Public hearing against the petition for aggregate revenue requirement and determination tariff filled by the PSPCL for 2013-2014.

The association suggested; “The lower staff working in the department should be given training for the modernisation of working so as to make the department enable not to keep over and above the required strength. The staff working in the field should be given modernised instrument so that faults are cleared without any loss of time and the consumers may not have to suffer in this respect.

The consumers who are defaulters for the payment of electricity consumptions, the department should make one time settlement with them so as to enable them to clear the arrears which will also fetch revenue for the department.

The rates of electricity consumption being charged by the department. The electricity consumption during the night should be less against the consumption during day time for the industrial consumption as is being done in the other states which will also be beneficial for the department as well as for the consumers.

The department asked for the feasibility charges at the time of the submission of electric connection but these charges should be taken as and when the load is sanctioned / connected. Otherwise the department should pay interest on the amount realised from the date, it is charged from the applicants.”

“In the last the chairperson was made known about the resentment in the industrial sector about the hike in the tariff and she was requested not to put further burden on the consumers as the industry is already reeling under recession”, said the UCPMA president Gurmeet Singh Kular.
