Ludhiana, September 15, 2012: An urgent meeting of the Office Bearers of UCPMA was held under the Chairmanship of Manjit Singh Khalsa, Chairman and president ship of Gurmeet Singh Kular, President on Saturday for discussion regarding hike in prices of diesel as well as the distribution of LPG Cylinders.
The meeting observed; “Our is the association of 2250 msme members including the exporters who are earning foreign exchange for the national exchequers. In this context, the Association and Industry shows it great resentment for the hike in prices of the diesel which will affect increase in cartage, increase in generator operation, increase in railway fair and increase in diesel consumption. As power shortage has been a major obstacle in the smooth working of the industry and they are forced / compelled to run on the generator. Due to frequent and undeclared power cut, the cost of running the generator is about thrice the cost of power supply PSPCL. Diesel is the only alternative of the power for MSME sector.
The Bicycle industry is already passing through a critical phase striving very hard for its survival. The bicycle industry has never legged behind in contribution its share to the national exchequers. It may be pertinent mentioned that over the years MSME has emerged as one of the largest employment provider and major contributor in export from the India. We hope realizing the gravity of the situation in which the bicycle industry is operating, the hike in the price of the diesel will be abolished and the industry will remain indebted to central government.”
Inderjit Singh Navyug, Senior Vice President, Pardeep Wadhawan, Secretary, Baljit Singh Lotey, Joint Secretary and Ajit Kumar, Propaganda Secretary were among those present.
