UCPMA holds meeting; discuss power cuts issue

Ludhiana, May 10, 2013: An urgent meeting of the office-bearers of UCPMA was held under the leadership of Inderjit Singh Navyug, acting President in the absence of Gurmeet Singh Kular President of United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association on Friday for discussion regarding ACD being charged by Punjab State Power Corporation Limited from all categories consumers and unscheduled power cuts being imposed by the PSPCL.

The meeting strongly criticised the ACD charges being asked from the consumers. It was observed that it would make the adverse position of the cycle industry of the state, which was already under recession due to non-availability of the manpower.

The meeting also condemned the unscheduled power cuts being imposed on the industry as well as on the public. These should be withdrawn immediately, the meeting resolved.  The better option for the government would be to reduce the transmission loses and cases of power thefts, the meeting further resolved.

Harjit Singh Sondh, Vice President, Pardeep Wadhawan, Secretary, Baljit Singh Lotey, Joint Secretary, Ajit Kumar, Propaganda Secretary and Achhru Ram Gupta Finance Secretary were among those present in the meeting.
