Jalandhar, February 27, 2015: Fashion Designing Department of Prem Chand Markanda S.D.College for Women, Jalandhar city organised a UGC Sponsored 2 Day National Workshop on Surface Ornamentation of Garments.
Dr.Kiran Arora, Principal of the college, extended a floral welcome to the Chief Guest, Dr. Renu Bhardwaj, Controller Examinations, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. In her Inaugural address, Dr. Renu Bhardwaj emphasised the need of women empowerment for the betterment of society. The keynote speaker, Dr. Rita Kant, Associate Professor, University Institute of Fashion Technology, Punjab University, Chandigarh, highlighted the importance of ornamentation of garments as value addition. She referred to fashion designers as "agents of social and economic changes, " on the ocassion, 'MOSAIC' a journal was released by the Chief Guest.
Dr. Sumeet Grewal, Associate Professor CT, PAU, Ludhiana, Caludine Anita Toppo, Head, Department of Fashion Designing, International Institute of Fashion Design, Ambala and Prof. Naresh, Director, Regional Professional Training Institute, Amritsar were the resource persons in the Technical Sessions.
Vinod Dada, Joint Secretary, Governing Body and Mrs. C.M. Markanda, Advisor D.S.S.D. Education Board graced the occassion. Mrs. Sunita Bhalla, Head, Dept. of Fashion Designing was the seminar co-ordinator.
