UGI organized workshop on emerging trends in manufacturing and automation sector

Mohali: Universal Group of Institutions  organized workshop for B. Tech  & Diploma students of Mechanical and Civil branch  emerging trends in manufacturing and automation at its campus . Students were informed that how automation or automatic control, the use of various control systems for operating equipment is widely used in various industries in India. Automation has been achieved by various means including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic devices and computers, usually in combination. Complicated systems, such as modern factories, airplanes and ships typically use all these combined techniques.
Another topic addressed was Industry 4.0 which is a name for the current trend of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies.  Students were explained that Industry 4.0 included cyber-physical systems, the Internet of things, cloud computing and cognitive computing which has been considered “the revolution of industry.” The objective of the workshop was to provide a state-of-the-art review of the ongoing trends on the Industry 4.0 phenomenon, highlight its key design principles and technology trends, identify its architectural design and offer a strategic roadmap that can help students as a simple guide for the process of Industry 4.0 transition.
In the second session students were explained about manufacturing of cement and importance of water cement ratio and practically how it affects the durability of concrete and various trends in cement manufacturing. The session was  then followed by the  practical session in the mobile concrete laboratory bus from Ultra-Tech.
While speaking at the moment Chairman UGI Dr. Gurpreet Singh said that such workshops are very useful for the students. In this workshop students came to know about use of Nanotechnology in manufacturing. It enhanced the knowledge of students in Industrial Automation & it gave knowledge about various manufacturing.
