Chandigarh, November 4, 2024: Mechanical Engineering Department of University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Panjab University(PU), Chandigarh celebrated Vishwakarma Day Traditions at its Workshop Premises with a spirit that blended devotion with a forward-looking technological vision. 

The event, rooted in traditional observance and reverence for Lord Vishwakarma—the divine architect—also emphasised the importance of using Technological Innovations for betterment of Society while staying connected to our cultural roots.


The ceremony began with the harmonious recitation of Shri Japji Sahib Path, filling the atmosphere with a sense of devotion and unity. This was followed by the Aarti dedicated to Lord Vishwakarma, invoking blessings for knowledge, creativity, and technological innovations for the community. Afterward, Prasad was distributed to all attendees, reinforcing the shared spirit of gratitude and community.


Dr. Mohsen Rahmani, from Nottingham Trent University (NTU), United Kingdom was the Guest of Honour at the function. He was warmly welcomed and presented with a Siropa as a “mark of respect.” This special guest’s presence underscored the collaborative ties UIET maintains with global academic institutions, promoting an environment of shared learning and cross-cultural exchange.


Addressing the gathering, Director UIET Prof. Sanjeev Puri inspired students and faculty alike to balance tradition with innovation. As we progress in cutting-edge technology, we must remember the values and roots that have shaped our journey, he added.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Shankar Sehgal, Mechanical Coordinator, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the faculty, staff, and students for making this celebration so meaningful and successful.
