UIFT&VD, Panjab University, hosted Kala-e-Ishq 

The University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development (UIFT&VD), Panjab University, Chandigarh, today hosted Kala-e-Ishq, an exhibition-cum-sale that brought together student entrepreneurs, artisans, and creative minds under one roof.

Chandigarh, February 11, 2025: The University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development (UIFT&VD), Panjab University, Chandigarh, today hosted Kala-e-Ishq, an exhibition-cum-sale that brought together student entrepreneurs, artisans, and creative minds under one roof. 

This vibrant event provided a platform for young designers and artists to showcase their unique handcrafted creations while encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation among students. The event was graced by Prof. Simrit Kahlon, Dean of Student Welfare(Women), Panjab University, as the Chief Guest. Kala-e-Ishq was organized under the able guidance of Dr. Prabhdip Brar, Chairperson, UIFT&VD, who has always encouraged students to explore their creative potential beyond academics. 

The exhibition was convened by Ms. Kirti Sheoran and the student coordinator for the event was Ishwarpreet kaur, whose dedication and efforts contributed significantly to the seamless execution of the event. 

A special highlight of the event was the presentation of a souvenir made from sustainable materials to Prof. Simrit Kahlon, symbolizing the department’s commitment to eco-friendly practices and responsible design. This thoughtful gesture reflected the emphasis on sustainability within the creative industry and was well appreciated by the Chief Guest. 

A wide range of handcrafted and designer products were showcased at the exhibition, highlighting the diverse talents of young entrepreneurs. The stalls featured an array of exquisite jewelry, apparel, paintings, home décor items, and other handmade crafts. 

One of the standout brands at the event was Zueza Jewels by Harmehar Bajwa, a venture specializing in premium 24k gold-plated and silver jewelry, each piece meticulously designed by Harmehar herself. Her collection attracted a lot of appreciation for its intricate craftsmanship and elegant designs.

Another notable exhibitor was Imartist by Isha Mathur, who presented an exclusive collection of semi-precious stone jewelry. Her brand is known for its unique fusion of artistry and craftsmanship, offering statement pieces that reflect both tradition and modern aesthetics. Visitors were captivated by her finely crafted jewelry, which showcased a deep understanding of materials and design. In addition to these brands, several other student entrepreneurs participated in the exhibition, displaying a variety of handcrafted products. 

The stalls featured handwoven accessories, customized clothing, home décor items, and a range of innovative handmade goods, each reflecting the creativity and hard work of the students. Students of UIFT&VD played an active role in curating, managing, and promoting their stalls, transforming the event into a thriving hub of entrepreneurship and artistic expression. This initiative not only provided them with an opportunity to showcase and sell their creations but also offered valuable real-world experience in business management, marketing, and customer interaction. 

The overwhelming response from visitors and the success of Kala-e-Ishq reaffirmed the growing culture of student entrepreneurship at Panjab University.
