UILS Students Shine at First Intra-Department Client Counselling and Arbitral Writing Competition at Panjab University
Samitanjay Sharma, Nupur Sanghi, and Vedica Tewari have won the Client Counselling Competition, while Zaid Ali and Suhana Brar won the Arbitral Award Writing Competition at the First Intra-Department Client Counselling and Arbitral Writing Competition 2025, held at the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Chandigarh, January 27, 2025: Samitanjay Sharma, Nupur Sanghi, and Vedica Tewari have won the Client Counselling Competition, while Zaid Ali and Suhana Brar won the Arbitral Award Writing Competition at the First Intra-Department Client Counselling and Arbitral Writing Competition 2025, held at the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, Chandigarh.
As many as 100 teams participated in the competition, organised by the Alternative Dispute Resolution & Client Counselling Board (ADR and CCL Board) of UILS, under the guidance of the Director of UILS and Patron of the event, Prof. Dr. Shruti Bedi, along with Faculty Coordinator Prof. Dr. Sabina Salim. The event, which concluded late on Saturday evening after a series of engaging rounds, brought together budding legal minds to showcase their skills in client counselling and arbitral writing.
In an unprecedented feat, the competition received an astounding 458 registrations, highlighting the keen interest and enthusiasm among participants. A total of 50 teams took part in each of the two competitions: the Client Counselling
Competition and the Arbitral Writing Competition, marking a significant turnout.
The final round and valedictory ceremony witnessed the esteemed presence of Hon'ble Justice Vinod Bhardwaj, Justice at the Punjab and Haryana High Court, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The competition also saw the esteemed presence of Justice (Retd.) Raj Rahul Garg and Senior Advocate Aashish Chopra from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, who served as Guests of Honour.
The Valedictory Ceremony was presided over by PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig. In his motivating address, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Vinod Bhardwaj interacted with young legal minds, enquiring about their vision of the Indian Constitution on its completion of 75 years.
The legal event was led by Convenor Krittika Walia and Co-Convenors Tej Partap Singh Gill and Sandali. The vote of thanks was delivered by the esteemed Prof. Dr. Chanchal Narang.
The event was not just a celebration of legal skills but also an opportunity for students to engage with experts in the field, learn from their vast experience, and gain valuable insight from an exemplary platform that allowed students to hone their practical skills in real-world legal scenarios.
