UIPS initiated series of event under the aegis of Medicinal Plant Garden
University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Department of Botany Panjab University Chandigarh initiated a series of event from 22-29 August 2022, to create an awareness and promote popularization of medicinal plants.
Chandigarh, August 23, 2022: University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Department of Botany Panjab University Chandigarh initiated a series of event from 22-29 August 2022, to create an awareness and promote popularization of medicinal plants.
Prof Anil Kumar, Professor Pharmacology, and officiating Chairperson, UIPS inaugurated the event. He shared motive of the lecture is to apprise the students and young minds about the importance of herbal drugs especially post pandemic (COVID -19) times and encouraged the students to adopt environment friendly ways
Prof Sudhir Kumar, Director Research and Development Cell, Panjab University graced the occasion as a Chief guest of the event. In his address he related the Aushadhi with Rigvedha and Athurveda and sensitized that Aushadhi may be Jeevan or poison if not taken in proper amount. He congratulated the organisers for their programmatic step and imparted the message ‘to save the flora and fauna.
First day 23rdAugust, webinar was delivered by Dr Suresh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Research, Punjabi University, Patiala on the “Safety and Efficacy issues of herbal Drugs . With a perfect example of Bicchu Booti and Bitter Dock, he showcased the nature beauty that nature is curse at a time and solution lying next to it in nature only. By citing different examples, he discussed the different reason of toxicities of herbal drugs
Dr Ashwini Bhatia, Joint Incharge Medicinal Plant Garden, concluded the session by extending vote of thanks on behalf of organisers. The Institute has planned webinars and visit to Medicinal Garden and Botanical Garden in coming days.
