Ukraine Ambassador states Russia is escalating the war to the world level
Ludhiana, December 20, 2024: There is a nexus forming between North Korea, China and Russia, which is a matter of grave concern for the entire world, said Dr. Oleksandr Polishchuk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of India while speaking in an interview to the department of Journalism, PCTE Group of Institutes. He was the chief guest at the Annual Convocation at PCTE Group of Institutes. He alluded to a possibility of a war escalating to the world level if things keep developing this way. He said right now there are North Korean soldiers on the battlefield in Ukraine, and if Putin is trying to show which countries supports them, then there are several countries across the world which support Ukraine.
Dr. Polishchuk was the Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine until 2023, post which he became Chairman of the Interagency Commission on the Policy of Military-Technical Cooperation and Export Control. He is a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science, and retired from the Military rank of Major General. Commenting on offer of talks by the Russian President, Mr. Vladimir Putin, he said that he had been part of dealings with Russia earlier and he does not trust them.
The convocation began with a grand March Past, a unique and vibrant spectacle where the students from 45 different nations proudly carried their national flags, symbolizing the diverse and inclusive community at PCTE. This was followed by the Academic Procession, wherein students, faculty, and the Chief Guest proceeded with dignity and grace. The traditional Lamp Lighting Ceremony marked the commencement of the formal proceedings, illuminating the path of knowledge and wisdom. The pivotal moment of the ceremony arrived with the Distribution of Degrees to the Class of 2024, conducted by Dr. K.N.S. Kang, the Director General of PCTE Group of Institutes. This marked the official recognition of the graduates' successful completion of their academic journey.
The ceremony further celebrated the academic excellence of meritorious students with the distribution of prizes and college colors by Ambassador Polishchuk. The prestigious Wg Cdr. H.S. Gill Memorial Gold Medal, recognizing the outstanding student excelling both academically and in co-curricular activities from the Class of 2024, was awarded to Gagandeep Sharma of the B.Tech (CSE) 2020-24 batch. The award was presented by Dr. Gurpreet Gill, Director Administration of PCTE. 8 students were honored with the prestigious College Color Award for their exceptional contributions in various fields, including Literary Arts, Music, Dance, Theatre, Sports, Athletics, Entrepreneurship, and the Best Alumni Award . The Best Alumni Award was presented to Amanpreet Dua, of the MBA Class of 2000-2002, in recognition of his outstanding achievements.
Harpreet K Kang, Dean, PCTE read the Annual Report, while Dinesh Kumar, Professor, Department of Journalism expressed gratitude in the Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the collective efforts that contributed to the success of the Convocation. The event concluded with the National Anthem, marking the formal departure of the Academic Procession, symbolizing the end of a memorable and inspiring ceremony.
In continuation of conversation with the Ambassador through the day when questioned about the safety of the Indian students at Ukraine, he said that the Indian student’s numbers had fallen, and hoped that things would revert back to normalcy.
