1 person persons was declared brought dead at Civil Hospital
Ludhiana: Ludhiana: An under-construction roof of an old factory collapsed at Ludhiana on Monday.
The incident occurred on the Daba road in the Daba-Gyaspura Area.
The lintel has collapsed at around 10:30am today.
According to an official information, the factory owner was lifting the lintel level without permission from municipal Corporation.
A total 40 people were suspected to be trapped. Out of these 36 have been taken out. Four are still trapped inside the building.
Out of 36 persons taken out, one was declared brought dead at civil hospital.
Rest 10 persons are under treatment in hospitals.
Five persons are admitted in civil Hospital and five in Apollo Hospital.
Out of the injured, two are undergoing treatment in Apollo Hospital. They are in critical condition.
Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Rakesh Aggarwal have rushed to the spot and taking stock of situation.

Ludhiana: The Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal on Monday morning took stock of roof collapse of a factory in Baba Mukand Singh Nagar, Daba road.
Inspecting the site, they gave full charge of the rescue operation to the team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) along with State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), Fire Brigade, local Police and others and asked them to save the remaining trapped persons from the auto-parts manufacturing unit namely Jasmail Singh and Sons.
They said at the time of incident around 9.50 am, 40 workers were engaged in the factory and teams have taken out 37 persons and sent to various hospitals.
They said that one of worker has been declared brought dead, one died during treatment at hospital and while a body was recovered from debris and seven have sustained injuries.
They said that the roof collapsed when the factory owner reportedly trying to lift the height of lanter.
Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said a detailed probe would be carried out late but our foremost priority to save lives of workers.
He said the permission of construction work was not procured in this work.
Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal said that a case has been registered against the owner and contractor.

Ludhiana: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday ordered a magisterial probe into the circumstances leading to the roof collapse of a factory in Baba Mukand Singh Nagar, Daba road, Ludhiana, which claimed four lives and left nine others injured. The chief minister, while expressing grief over the loss of lives, announced a compensation of Rs two lakhs each to the kin of the deceased, besides directing the district administration to ensure free and prompt treatment to the injured.
According to a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s officer the magisterial inquiry would be conducted by Divisional Commissioner Patiala and he has been directed to submit his report within two weeks. The chief minister made it clear that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty of negligence, which had cost four precious lives.
The unfortunate incident occurred around 9.50 am when 40 workers were working in the auto-parts manufacturing unit of M/s. Jasmail Singh and Sons. Rescue teams successfully rescued 36 persons from the debris and they were admitted to various hospitals for treatment. Four persons have so far died in the mishap and of the six persons who are under treatment, the condition of one is stated to be critical.
The deceased have been identified as Mustakeen and Sagar Kumar, both residents of Bihar, and Peechu and Imtiaz from Ludhiana.
