Under the aegis of India’s G20 Presidency, LPU hosted Youth Engagement Programme-Y20 Dialogue
Lovely Professional University (LPU) hosted official engagement group of G20- the Youth20 (Y20) Dialogue by organizing important discussions. These were held to consult the youth-of the nation in general and at LPU in particular- on ideas for a better tomorrow, and to further draft an agenda for action. It brought together thought leaders and change-makers from various fields to discuss pressing issues facing the world today.

These were held to consult the youth-of the nation in general and at LPU in particular- on ideas for a better tomorrow, and to further draft an agenda for action. It brought together thought leaders and change-makers from various fields to discuss pressing issues facing the world today.
Briefing about the theme of India's G20 presidency- ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’- meaning "One Earth, One Family, & One Future", invited speakers presented their views on different aspects of the group. From the geopolitical disorder in the Indo-Pacific to the power of green habits and cultural attacks on social media, speakers made evocative conversations with valuable insights. The Y-20 is the youth version of the G-20 Summits. Students also made important queries with various positive imbibing from the speakers.
Focussing on the ‘Geopolitical disorder in Indo-Pacific in the era of G-20’, Indian Navy’s Vice Admiral Shekhar Sinha (Retd) appraised that present is the appropriate time for India to reveal its intrinsic leadership skills. Leaving behind the UK, it is presently in a good position in the world. However, the world itself is in political disorder as troubles are persisting in all parts of the world. In the middle of this all, India is spreading inclusive leadership –in both economy and military power. Remaining always on the alert, and to be powerful, India ought to adopt multi-polarity by taking all nations along for perfect human development. He emphasized upon the importance of cooperation and collaboration among all nations for a prosperous future for all.
The Commissioner of Income Tax at Ludhiana, IRS Rohit Mehra shared how small habits can make a big difference for protecting the planet. Known himself as a “Green Man”, he motivated students to adopt green habits in daily lives for contributing to a sustainable future. The Secretary Y20 India, Akash Jha told Y20 as India's roadmap towards new India. He expected to make concrete contributions to the urban development industry. Chief Manager at the Times Group, Priyanka Deo shared on the cultural attacks that take place on social media, and laid importance on the awareness and critical thinking in combating propaganda that damage societies and values. Similarly, Content Head, Linkedin Tanya Dubey talked about content, creative, social-media, creator-economy.
While honouring the visiting elite speakers, LPU Pro Chancellor Rashmi Mittal shared that the “Y20 Dialogue proved to be thought-provoking and enlightening event. It has indeed underlined that the power of education, dialogue, and collaboration is certain to bring positive change to the world. LPU always stands committed in empowering minds and enriching lives.”
In fact, the G-20 rotating presidency bears the responsibility of organizing the youth summit. It is to know what the youths are thinking in order to create a connecting point between G-20 governments and their local youth. The five Y20 themes are “Future of Work: Industry 4.0, Innovation and 21st century; Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Making Sustainability as a Way of Life; Peace Building and Reconciliation: Ushering in an Era of No War; Shared Future: Youth in Democracy and Governance; Health, Wellbeing & Sports: Agenda for Youth.”
