Underprivileged people get RS 12000 each under Har Ghar Pakki Chhat scheme initiated by Surinder Kumar Dawar in Ludhiana central constituency
People who received the cheques were grateful to Dawar
Ludhiana, December 30, 2021: Ludhiana Central MLA Surinder Dawar distributed cheques worth Rs 12000 each to 150 persons of economically weaker section in Miller Ganj area today. These funds are a part of the approximate amount worth Rs 5 crore, that he has been distributing to people of underprivileged section under ‘Har Ghar Pakki Chhat’ campaign. Under this scheme run by Mr Dawar he is giving this amount to repair rooftops of houses of the underprivileged section of people who are unable to bear the cost of house repair.
Speaking about the initiative, Mr Dawar said that he especially sought funds from the Congress government in Punjab for the benefit of persons falling under economically weaker section in his constituency. “I wanted to help all those people who cannot even bear the expense of repairing their leaking roofs. Most of these people live in old houses, which have roofs made from logwoods, that not only leak, but also are a danger to the people living in those houses. That is why I began ‘Har Ghar Pakki Chatt’ initiative so that they can renovate their roofs and make them strong during adverse weather conditions Mr Dawar said.
People who received the cheques were grateful to Mr Dawar. “I have not been able to repair roof of my house for decades. Thanks to Dawar Saab, I would be able to get it done now,” a resident said.
