Union Budget really disappointing: Sanjeev Arora, MP
Regrets that the budget totally ignored Punjab
Ludhiana, February 1, 2023: AAP MP (Rajya Sabha) from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora has expressed his disappointment over the Budget presented by the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Parliament today.
In a statement here today, he said, “I am really disappointed with Union Budget”, adding that people were expecting much more.
He said tax benefits are almost nil if inflation is taken into account. “From 5 Lacs to 7 Lacs is inflation itself”, he remarked.
He regretted that there is nothing much announced for the industrial sector. “Textile industry, one of the biggest employers, which is reeling under huge losses, has been left out of any reprive”, he pointed out.
Adding, he said even the housing industry, another big employer, did not get any boost in the shape of incentives.
Further, he said, even markets after understanding that budget has nothing to give entered into a negative Phase today.
At the same time, he said, “The only good thing in budget is a substantial increase on infrastructure expenses.”
Arora regretted that health expenditure has been reduced from 2.20 per cent to 1.98 per cent of GDP, which is not a good sign for people of the country. “Rather, it should have been atleast 3 per cent of GDP”, he opined.
He also regretted that the budget has totally ignored Punjab as there is nothing specific about people of this state.
