Ferozepur, July 16, 2023: Senior BJP Leader Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi today said that the Union Home Minister Amit Shah would soon lay the foundation stone of PGI Satellite Centre which has been hanging in abeyance for the last several years.
Rana said that by the beginning of the next year, the foundation stone of the medical college would also be laid.
While addressing the media persons here, Sodhi said that the union government was concerned regarding the healthcare facilities in border areas. “With the construction of the PGI Satellite Centre, people not only from Ferozepur but from other border districts also would be benefited by the same.
It is pertinent to mention here that on January 5 last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to lay the foundation stone of this PGI Satellite Centre ahead of Vidhan Sabha polls in the state. However, the project could not take off as the PM had to go back without launching the same following protest by the farmers. Later, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit to this border town on February 16, 2022 had promised that the foundation stone of this project will be laid on the day of Baisakhi, however in vain.
Meanwhile, Dr. Balbir Singh Health Minister during his visit today also said that the work of PGI Satellite Centre will start soon.
