Chandigarh, May 28, 2016: TILM - Thinking inspired through Literature and Movies Programme started at Dikshant Global School, Zirakpur. Vittorio de Sica's 1948 classic movie 'Bicycle Thieves’ was screened for students at the school.
‘Bicycle Thieves’ has inspired many a present filmmakers to carve out careers in the Film Industry. The film follows the story of a poor father searching post-World War II Rome for his stolen bicycle, without which he will lose the job -- which was to be the salvation of his young family.
The screening of the movie was followed by a discussion between well-known Indian screenwriter of Hindi cinema Mr Sanjay Chouhan, who is most known for his movies ‘I Am Kalam’ and ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ and New York based Mr Aseem Chhabra who is a film journalist, freelance writer and a New York Times ,The Boston Globe columnist. The film screening was open for public. The students of Dikshant School asked some very pertinent questions about film making to the experts which made the session quite informative.
“Under the programme every month a film would be screened in presence of film critics & experts. After screening a discussion on the film will take place. We want to give students exposure to alternate career options, so they can take informed decisions related to their careers.” Said Mitul Dikshit, Chairman, Dikshant Group of Schools.
