Ludhiana, August 15, 2022: Struggle to save the constitution and for justice & equality is the next phase of struggle for independence said Amarjeet Kaur member National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India while addressing a seminar on 'Role of Communists in the Independence Struggle' at Shahid Karnail Singh Isru Bhavan Ludhiana. 

Adding, she said the Communist Party of India formed in 1925 had the prime objective to overthrow of British Imperialism. Party was first to demand complete independence from the colonial rule and in the independent India, a constitution based on social-economic justice. Communists worked independently, along with revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh and his comrades   and also in the  main-stream national movement for independence under the banner of freedom movement platform the Indian National Congress. Communists helped organise students as All India Students Federation (AISF), Farmers & Agriculture labours in their respective independent unions so as to raise their demands and for their participation in the freedom struggle. Communists also worked in organising workers’ unions along with others under  All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC). It is to be noted here, she said, that the RSS was also formed at the same time in 1925. 

It is time, she said, that the communists have to take lead and unite all the progressive democratic forces against the fascist government and their efforts to destroy the hard earned constitution based on the principles of secularism and democracy.

At the beginning of the seminar, Dr. Arun Mitra, National Council member of the party welcomed the chief guest and said that such discussion is the need of the hour and people need to be told which people participated in the freedom struggle and which people sided with the British.  

Vijay Kumar, Kulwant Kaur, Vinod Kumar, Gurmail Maldey Charan Singh Sarabha and Kewal Singh Banwait also participated in the discussion.
