University of Auckland Dean visits PU, Discusses academic collaborative initiatives

University of Auckland Dean visits PU, Discusses academic collaborative initiatives

Chandigarh, November 21, 2024: Professor Marek Tesar, Faculty of Education and Dean, Mark Barrow, Faculty Social Work from University of Auckland visited Panjab University and had a meeting with Dean International Students Professor Kewal Krishan, Prof. Satvinderpal Kaur, Chairperson of Deptt of Education; and Professor Monica Munjal, Chairperson of Centre for Social Work to discuss academic collaborative initiatives under the partnership between PU and University of Auckland.
 
Giving a brief introduction of the University, Professor Mark Barrow shared that University of Auckland was ranked 1st in New Zealand in the 2024 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. It was also ranked 68th in the 2024 QS World University Rankings, 150th in the world in the 2024 Times Higher Education World University Rankings and 13th in the 2024 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. 
 
The two Universities discussed the possibilities of dual Ph.D. degree and Postgraduate degrees in specific disciplines and collaboration in relevant areas of research and academic development. Deliberations were also made to work out faculty exchange and student exchange programs between the two universities.
 
In the meeting, Professor Kewal Krishan highlighted that PU Vice Chancellor Professor Renu Vig, always encourages international collaborations in the field of research and academics. Hence, initially as an initiative the departments of Education and Social Work may collaborate with the Auckland University in terms of online lectures/webinars on the mutually agreed areas and later on some research projects can be submitted for further collaborations.
