Unveiling the Tapestry: Tribals of India and India's Freedom Struggle Quiz

Jalandhar, August 10, 2023: An insightful and enriching 'Tribal Empowerment Awareness Program' is currently underway at in DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur in conjunction with the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations. The initiative is organized through collaboration between the government's Ministry Program and CBSE. This program aims to commemorate the spirit of India's struggle for freedom by fostering a deeper understanding of tribal communities and their contributions to the nation's history.

The school is actively engaged in a series of events and activities to celebrate the Independence week, commencing from August 7th and culminating on August 15th
As a part of the ongoing activities, a quiz competition was organized by Heritage Club of the school for the 8th-grade students on the 10th Aug 2023. The quiz served as an engaging platform to gauge the students' knowledge on two crucial themes - 'Tribals of India' and 'India's Struggle for Freedom'.

A total of four teams were meticulously selected from various sections of the 8th grade, each team named after a prominent tribal group - Team Khonds, Team Mundas, Team Santhals, and Team Kukis. This innovative approach added a meaningful dimension to the quiz, connecting students with the nation's rich cultural and historical diversity.

The quiz comprised five rounds in total. The initial two rounds delved into the intricate history and culture of 'Tribals of India'. Subsequently, the third and fourth rounds focused on 'India's Struggle for Freedom'.The final round, 'Identify the Freedom Fighter from Image', tested the students' familiarity with the iconic figures who played pivotal roles during the struggle.

Satish, the Quiz Master, along with the students, displayed exceptional enthusiasm and active engagement throughout the entire quiz event.

The quiz culminated in a triumphant manner, with the following teams securing the top positions:
1st Position: Team Mundas (8th D)
2nd Position: Team Khonds (8th B)
3rd Position: Team Santhals (8th C)
4th Position: Team Kukis (8th A)

The school incorporated an essay writing competition for class 9th into its roster of activities. This initiative sought to encourage students to delve into the history, culture, and significance of tribal communities within the larger narrative of the nation's journey towards independence.

Principal Dr Yogesh Gambhir commended the students for their enthusiastic participation for making the competitions and activities a valuable and enlightening experience.
