Urdu Day at PU
Chandigarh, November 12, 2021: Urdu Day Was Celebrated with enthusiasm and gusto by students of the Department of Urdu,Panjab University here today.
According to Dr. Ali Abbas Coordinator of the Urdu department, a Special Online Function was organised by Students of M.A, Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma Courses of Urdu and Persian as well as Research Scholars and Teacher joined hands to participate in various activities organised to mark the occasion. Urdu day is celebrated at the national level on November 9.
Addressing Students, Dr. Ali Abbas said that Urdu and Hindi were twin sisters and their contribution in India’s freedom struggle is second to none. “Urdu and Hindi Literature has always strengthened the bonds of patriotism, nationalism, mutual cooperation, brotherhood, secularism and love for mankind. It is a great sources of social awakening and opinion building. It is a soul, heart and wind of the Society.” He added.
Dr. Ali Abbas also explained at length the essence of Dr. Iqbal and Moulana Abul Kalam Azad’s Philosophy. Rich tributes were paid to Dr. Iqabal and Moulana Abul kalam Azad on the occasion.
Prof. Rehana Parveen (Retd) presided over function.
Dr. Zulfiqar Ali ,of the Persian department proposed the vote of thanks.
