UST donates assistive vision devices to Punarjyothi Visual Rehabilitation Centre, Thiruvananthapuram
Digital transformation solutions company UST, in association with the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology Alumni Association (RIOAA), has handed over assistive vision devices to the city-based Punarjyothi Visual Rehabilitation Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme.

Thiruvananthapuram, April 29, 2025: Digital transformation solutions company UST, in association with the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology Alumni Association (RIOAA), has handed over assistive vision devices to the city-based Punarjyothi Visual Rehabilitation Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme.
The Punarjyothi Visual Rehabilitation Centre is a project by the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology Alumni Association (RIOAA). At an event themed, ‘Education for Empowerment of the Visually Challenged’, held recently, UST officials led by Shilpa Menon, Center Head, UST Thiruvananthapuram, handed over the devices.
Dr Arun S Nair, Director, Department of Social Justice, Dr Rajeev Sadanandan, Retd Additional Chief Secretary, Govt of Kerala, Dr Vanidevi P T, Psychologist and Director, Enlight Centre for Holistic Development, Dr Chitra Raghavan, Professor, RIO, Thiruvananthapuram, Dr Sunil M S, Supdt, RIO and former secretary RIOAA, Dr Sheeba C S, Director, RIO, Dr Ahalya Sundaram, Secretary, RIO, Vineeth Mohanan, CSR Lead, UST, and others were present. Sofi Janet, CSR Ambassador, UST, led the planning and execution of the project. The devices that were handed over include four Telescope Monocular Hand Held devices; one US-made Ocutech VES Sport-II, eight units of Portable Video Magnifiers 5” HD; and three HP 14/15 Intel 12th Gen i5-1235U 8GB 512GB SS laptops.
The project of the UST welfare foundation, aimed at supporting the individuals with visual impairment by aiding the procurement of assistive vision devices to Punarjyothi Visual Rehabilitation Centre, is expected to enhance the accessibility of patients by equipping them with advanced optical and digital magnification equipment, enabling their wellbeing. “UST is privileged to be part of the endeavour to empower the visually challenged by donating assistive vision devices to the Punarjyothi Visual Rehabilitation Centre. We are glad we could join hands with the prestigious Regional Institute of Ophthalmology in this mission,” said Shilpa Menon, Centre Head, UST Thiruvananthapuram.
