UST’s ‘Adopt A Village’ initiative lends helping hand to tribal families at Kollengode in Palakkad

Thiruvananthapuram, July 17, 2024:  UST, a leading digital transformation solutions company, has ushered in a slew of development initiatives at the tribal village in Kollengode, Palakkad, Kerala, as part of its ‘Adopt A Village’ programme. ‘Adopt A Village’ is UST’s corporate social responsibility programme, wherein needy homes in remote villages are extended a helping hand in overall development and transformation. The initiatives undertaken through the programme aid the tribal villagers to better their living conditions.

Kollengode in the Palakkad district of Kerala has 41 families belonging to the tribal community. ‘Adopt A Village’ initiatives from UST have brought to the village a community study centre with all required classroom furniture for more than 30 students. The technology company also appointed a B. Ed-qualified teacher at the community study centre.

The community study centre built in Kollengode was handed over to the villagers on July 13, 2024, at a function inaugurated by Sunil Balakrishnan, Chief Values Officer and Global Head – Development Centre Operations, UST. A team from UST led by Sunil Balakrishnan, CSR Ambassador Prasanth Subramanian and CSR Leads Ramu and Manoj Muralidharan, visited a few of the huts in the adopted village, interacted with the members of the tribal families, and discussed possibilities for future interventions.

“UST’s CSR programme ‘Adopt A Village’ aims at transforming the lives of families in the villages that the company adopts towards implementing various educational and social development initiatives. The programme initiated at Kollengode in Palakkad district adheres to the vision of betterment of social and educational measures that would prove to be of help to the tribal families in the village. The community study centre is a new step in offering better education to the children in the village. UST will look towards adding more development programmes in the village in future,” said Sunil Balakrishnan, Chief Values Officer, and Global Head – Development Centre Operations, UST.

UST will be expanding the scope of development activities in more villagers that are in need of enhanced support through its Adopt A Village programme.
