Uttar Pradesh State Council of Higher Education Team visits Amity University
Noida, November 26, 2021: Uttar Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (UPSCHE) Team led by Prof. Girish Chandra Tripathi, Chairman, UPSHEC visited Amity University, Uttar Pradesh Noida Campus, accompanied by Dr. R.K. Chaturvedi, Additional Secretary from UPSCHE.
Welcoming the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, said, “We are extremely honored and privileged as Dr. Tripathi consented to grace us today as he will be sharing his experiences of how education has emerged in the recent years. Softer skills including the values and culture are very important for the success of an individual and we at Amity truly believe in blending modernity with tradition.”
Presenting a report on the initiatives undertaken by Amity on New Education policy and other research and innovation initiatives, Dr. Shukla talked about the strategic plan for the next five years and the roadmap for Amity. She highlighted few broad-based goals set up by Amity such as educational excellence, holistic development of students, innovation & research excellence, maintaining high ethical values and foster social and environmental responsibility amongst others.
Speaking about the New Education Policy, Prof. (Dr.) Girish Chandra Tripathi, Chairman, UPSHEC, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Amity for the wonderful initiative undertaken by the University for holistic development of the students. Sharing his views on the NEP implementation, he said, “We have to make India self-dependent, self-reliant and self-sufficient but for doing that we will have to produce leaders in all walks of life- academics, society, politics, economy and also in the field of values, culture and spiritualism. Defining a good leader, he said, “A good leader is the one who knows the way, shows the way and goes the way and Dr. Ashok Chauhan is a perfect example of the same.”
He further stated, “We have to produce leaders of tomorrow. Amity not only identifies the aspects, dimensions and challenges of higher education but also tries to address them. Addressing the challenges of quality in Higher Education, he said excellent institutes have a role to play, they should sign MOUs with center of excellence, students-exchange, faculty-exchange programmes, which would then produce manpower to convert challenges into opportunities. The NEP emphasizes on the overall development of the student, it is student-centric. The NEP also emphasizes on integrated approach towards education. Primary education, secondary education and higher education are neither independent nor should exist in isolation, therefore, we should think, consider, view and approach education in a holistic, integrated manner. We will have to develop a digital model of education and a holistic approach and vision towards education. However, these cannot be implemented over a defined course of time, we will have to make structural changes to implement this. Amity can take this responsibility to lead this approach, invite leaders in the field of academia, discuss the NEP and then design the roadmap for implementation of NEP 2020. We fail to produce people which the industry requires, therefore we need to strengthen the co-relation between industry, commerce and trade and combine them with education. In these challenging times, the future of our generation is not safe therefore we definitely have to think about ourselves, our families and the society but nation comes first, people should be sincerely committed to the nation.”, remarked Dr. Tripathi.
Addressing the august gathering, Dr. R.K. Chaturvedi, Additional Secretary, called upon the need to partner with Private Universities in the areas of research, knowledge sharing and technique sharing for holistic development of society and taking Amity as a role model, he offered to provide necessary support to Amity and other educational institutes. Seeing the devotion in Amity, he said, “To make Higher Education Institutes grow, we need to rethink on the perception of Private universities image and collaborate to provide them excellence.”
Expressing his delight, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Education Group, said, “I thank the senior most officials of UPSCHE from the bottom of my heart for being here with us today sharing invaluable knowledge and guidance with us.” He assured them to follow the path shown by Dr. Tripathi and encouraged the students to imbibe the values.
Dr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University, said, “We are grateful to Dr. Tripathi for visiting us today. We are really fortunate to get his guidance to groom and nurture the leaders of tomorrow. Every word said by him has a profound meaning and resonates with the values and culture of Amity.”
