Vajra Corps honours Hockey Olympians at Jalandhar
In an elegant celebration of athletic excellence, a felicitation ceremony was organised at the iconic Vajra Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar on 29 Oct 2024 to honor eight distinguished Olympians who have brought immense pride to the nation in the 2024 Olympics Manpreet Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, Shamsher Singh, Gurjant Singh, Mandeep Singh, Jarmanpreet Singh, Sukhjeet Singh and Jugraj Singh were felicitated during the ceremony, presence of these Hockey icons will inspire the future generation of athletes.

Jalandhar, October 30, 2024: In an elegant celebration of athletic excellence, a felicitation ceremony was organised at the iconic Vajra Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar on 29 Oct 2024 to honor eight distinguished Olympians who have brought immense pride to the nation in the 2024 Olympics Manpreet Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, Shamsher Singh, Gurjant Singh, Mandeep Singh, Jarmanpreet Singh, Sukhjeet Singh and Jugraj Singh were felicitated during the ceremony, presence of these Hockey icons will inspire the future generation of athletes.
The event opened with an exhibition match between the Army Red and Vajra EME Hockey Teams observed by the Olympians from the stands. Prior to the match, the Olympians interacted with the teams, offering words of encouragement and sharing valuable insights into the spirit of sportsmanship.
Manpreet Singh, one of the honoured Olympians, had the privilege of rolling the first ball to mark the beginning of the match. As the ceremony commenced, Harmanpreet Singh released a cluster of balloons, symbolizing the lofty aspirations and enduring commitment of athletes who aim for greatness. Each Olympian was introduced and presented with a memento by Lt Gen Ajay Chandpuria AVSM, VSM, GOC, Vajra Corps, honouring their dedication, resilience and outstanding achievements on the global stage. The memorable event served as a tribute to these Olympians, celebrating their legacy and reaffirming the importance of sports in fostering National Pride and Unity.
