Valedictory function of FDP on UHV conducted in PU

Chandigarh, July 19, 2023: The Valedictory function of Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Universal Human Values (UHV) was conducted today in Panjab University. 

Valedictory function was attended by dignitaries like Dr Rajneesh Arora (former VC, PTU & Chairperson NCC-IP, AICTE), Professor K N Pathak (former VC, PU), Professor Rumina Sethi (DUI, PU), Professor Arvind (VC, Punjabi University, Patiala), Professor Kiran Arora (VC, Bahra University, Shimla), Professor Bhola Ram Gurjar (Director, NITTTR, Chandigarh), Professor Karamjeet Singh (VC, Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University), Professor K C Sharma (former VC, Kurukshetra University), Professor Navin Kumar (Dean-R&D, IIT-Ropar), Professor Rakesh Sharda (PAU), Dr Vinay Kehar (PTU), Dr Inder Singh Thakur (HPCU) and Professor Jagmeet Bawa (HPCU). 

All the VCs expressed the  commitment for UHV education. All the dignitaries deeply appreciated the FDP and resolved to initiate work on UHV trainings in their respective organizations. Chairman of National Coordination Committee-Induction Program (NCC-IP) of AICTE, Dr Rajneesh Arora, graced the valedictory session of the FDP with his presence as Chief-Guest. Dr Rajneesh Arora former Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Punjab Technical University (PTU) and currently Managing Director of Amritsar Group of Colleges (AGC) expressed pleasure over the fact that from this year a formal subject on UHV would be taught to all engineering students of UIET (Chandigarh), Chandigarh College of Engineering & Technology (CCET) and UIET (Hoshiarpur). He further suggested to senior teachers of Panjab University to make provision of minor degree in UHV along with major degree in typical branches of Engineering. Professor Rumina Sethi, DUI of Panjab University, reiterated her commitment towards inculcation of Universal Human Values amongst students, teachers, and staff of Panjab University and colleges affiliated to Panjab University. Shri Jitendra Narula (Co-convenor, NCC-IP, AICTE) was the main resource person from AICTE for this FDP and he gave summary of proceedings of the FDP while explaining in detail that the Human values are Universal in nature, rational and verifiable.  He articulated various efforts being made by his team for inculcation of Universal Human Values amongst human beings. Thirty five participants successfully completed this FDP and expressed deep sense of gratitude towards the AICTE team and PU team for conducting this valuable FDP. Eight day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Universal Human Values (UHV) was organized by Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh with support from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET), from 12th July to 19th July 2023. This FDP was conducted by a team from AICTE consisting of Shri Jitendra Narula (Resource person), Dr Priyadarshini (Facilitator) and Dr Munshi Yadav (Observer). From side of Panjab University, this FDP was organized by a team consisting of Dr Rajesh Kumar (Coordinator, FDP), Dr Gaurav Sapra (Co-coordinator, FDP), Dr Amit Thakur, Dr Garima Joshi, Prof Rajeev Puri (RUSA coordinator), Prof Latika Sharma (Coordinator, UHV cell) and Prof Manu Sharma (Co-coordinator, UHV cell).
