Vardhman provides financial aid of Rs 7.5 Cr to fight covid-19

Ludhiana: Vardhman Group deeply appreciates the bold and timely measures undertaken by the Govt. of India under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. 
Vardhman is also proud of the gallant warriors who are selflessly working day and night to safeguard our nation. Following this spirit, during this testing phase of Corona pandemic, the Group under the leadership of Mr. S.P. Oswal, Chairman, has wholeheartedly come out in supporting the battle of defeating the deadly Corona virus. “While the Govt. has undertaken drastic measures, it is the duty and responsibility of each one of us to ensure that minimum possible pain is inflicted on the Citizens of the Country especially the economically weaker sections of society” said Mr. Oswal.
Vardhman has committed liberal financial contributions to the Central Govt. as well as the State Governments of Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat where its manufacturing facilities are located.
In order to support the Central Govt. in its efforts to protect the countrymen from the menace of Covid-19, Vardhman has announced a sum of Rs 5 Crore for the Prime Minister’s COVID-19 relief fund. Additionally, the Group has announced a contribution of 1 Cr to the Punjab Govt. comprised of Rs 50 Lac directly to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund another Rs 50 Lac for the critical medical supplies in the Government Hospitals. Mr. D.L. Sharma, Managing Director, Vardhman Yarns & Threads handed over the Cheque of Rs 50 Lac to the Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana Mr. Pradeep Aggarwal on Saturday. The officeof Chief Minister tweeted about the gesture of Vardhman Group and urged industry to contribute towards this humanitarian effort. 
In Madhya Pradesh, the Group has contributed a sum of Rs 1 Cr to the Chief Minister’s Relief fund. Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, expressed his gratitude towards Vardhman Group on his twitter handle saying that he wholeheartedly appreciates the cooperation and the support received.   
In Himachal Pradesh too, the Group has contributed Rs 50 lacs to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to help the State Govt. in fighting the ongoing menace of Covid-19. Mr. Jai Ram Thakur, the Chief Minister lauded the financial support from Vardhman Group at this time of crisis. Vardhman has also contributed Rs 11 lacs to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in Gujarat.
Besides the financial support, looking at the acute shortage of medical supplies, the Group is contributing by manufacturing Masks and PPE’s at its Garments unit in Ludhiana and supplying it free of cost to the local government hospitals.
