Rohtak, January 17, 2025: Films can play a significant role to highlight the rich culture, heritage, glorious history, and the harmonious social milieu of Haryana. Need is to utilize this powerful medium of mass communication (cinema) as a tool to promote Haryana. This was stated by Vice Chancellor of Maharshi Dayanand University Prof. Rajbir Singh in his presidential address in the Haryana Film Mahotsav 2025 Poster Release ceremony today. This event was organized under the joint aegis of Vishwa Samwad Kendra, Haryana, Cine Foundation, Haryana and MDU Students’ Welfare Office.

MDU Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh said that cinematic medium can be used effectively to create positive perception about the state and society of Haryana.

Chief Guest in the function, eminent media person Ashok Shrivastava said that keeping in view the moral turpitude amongst youth, a ‘Sankar Kranti’ is the need of the hour. Films can be used to promote moral values, ethical behaviour, and cultural ethos of the state and nation. Ashok Shrivastava said that films need to be made on the glorious contribution of the unsung heroes of India’s freedom struggle.

Secretary, Vishwa Samvad Kendra Rajesh Kumar delivered the welcome address. He focussed on the aim and objectives of organizing the Film Festival. Chairperson, Vishwa Samvad Kendra Dr. Markendey Ahuja expressed the Vote of Thanks. Guest of Honour, noted social worker Samridhi Jain also spoke on the occasion.

MDU Registrar Prof. Gulshan Lal Taneja, Dean, Students’ Welfare Prof. Randeep Rana, Head of Dept. (JMC) Prof. Harish Kumar, Diretor, PR Sunit Mukherjee graced the occasion.

Office bearers of Vishwa Samvad Kendra and Cine Foundation Haryana, Dr. Rakesh Yogi (Gurugram University, Dr. Amit Sangwan and Dr. Ravinder (CDLU, Sirsa), Dr. Neeraj Karan Singh and Dr. Monika Jakhar (CUH), media teachers from all over the state, students, distinguished cine & OTT artistes were present in the function. The poster of Film Mahotsav was released on the occasion. Prizes were given to winners of Documentary films & Reel Making Contest 2024 in the programme.
