Vet Varsity organises Advanced-Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme

Ludhiana, February 20,2025: Department of Livestock Production Management of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized one week Advanced-Entrepreneurship Skill development Programme (AESDP) on “Scientific dairy Farming, Value chain addition and marketing to augment farmers income” under a project which was sponsored by Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Govt. of India. The course was attended by 20 participants from different regions of Punjab.

Dr. Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor said that these training initiatives are necessary for employment and bridge the gap between theoretical education and practical skills of the dairy farmers.

The Valedictory session was presided by Dr. Anil Kumar Arora, Director Research, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Uppal, Dean, Post Graduate Studies and Dr. Swaran Singh Randhawa, Dean College of Veterinary Science. Dr. Arora informed that entrepreneurship in the dairy sector contributes significantly to economic output and employment by creating more entrepreneurs which stimulates economic growth in rural areas. Dr. Uppal, emphasized upon the importance and role of clean milk production in dairy processing and start-ups in the dairy sector to employ technology for its sustainability and profitability.

Dr. Randhawa said that there is a need to anchor a new age of entrepreneurship within the micro small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector by dairy farming and value addition. Dr. R.S. Grewal, Director of Extension Education said that this programme provides a comprehensive and immersive learning experience with essential knowledge and skills in scientific dairy Farming.

Dr. Yashpal Singh, Course Director informed that in this programme, lectures, practicals were delivered by various subject experts from veterinary, Dairy, Industry experts, Financial Experts/Bankers. Exposure visit to Dairy plants, Dairy based companies was arranged. Dr. Suresh Kumar, Dr. Kulvinder Singh and Dr. Nitin Mehta conducted the training as Coordinators.
