Vet Varsity Organizes Workshop on Clinical Biosecurity
The Centre for One Health at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, in collaboration with the College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul, organized a one day workshop focused on enhancing clinical biosecurity practices. The workshop aimed to strengthen the knowledge and skills of the faculty from the clinical and para-clinical departments.
Ludhiana, September 16, 2024: The Centre for One Health at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, in collaboration with the College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul, organized a one day workshop focused on enhancing clinical biosecurity practices. The workshop aimed to strengthen the knowledge and skills of the faculty from the clinical and para-clinical departments.
Dr. Baljinder Bansal, Dean, College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul, commenced the event by discussing the evolving concept of clinical biosecurity. Dr. Bansal emphasized that, in light of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, veterinarians play a crucial role in improving disease prevention strategies.
Dr. Jasbir Singh Bedi, Director, Centre for One Health, highlighted the interconnection between the One Health and clinical biosecurity. Dr. Bedi explained that biosecurity is a key tool in controlling nosocomial infections, zoonoses, and the spread of antimicrobial resistance. Dr. Pankaj Dhaka led hands-on activities, guiding participants in identifying potential hazards and prioritizing biosecurity measures in various clinical settings. The participants were equipped with strategies to break the chain of infection in veterinary clinics. Dr. J.P. Yadav, coordinator of the event, summarized the workshop's key takeaways and expressed gratitude to the resource persons. Dr. JPS Gill, Vice-Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and participants for their commitment to advancing clinical biosecurity. Dr. Gill emphasized that strengthening biosecurity protocols is essential in safeguarding both animal and human health, particularly in the face of emerging infectious diseases. He further highlighted the crucial role of veterinarians in mitigating disease risks and fostering a One Health approach to public health challenges.
