Vet Varsity scientists and students bring laurels in International Symposium
Faculty members and students from the Centre for One Health, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University participated in the International Symposium on the Promotion of One Health: Opportunities, Challenges and Solutions, and achieved different awards. It was the XIX Annual Conference of the Indian Association of Veterinary Public Health Specialists (IAVPHS), organized by Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Hisar, Haryana.
Ludhiana, December 15, 2023: Faculty members and students from the Centre for One Health, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University participated in the International Symposium on the Promotion of One Health: Opportunities, Challenges and Solutions, and achieved different awards. It was the XIX Annual Conference of the Indian Association of Veterinary Public Health Specialists (IAVPHS), organized by Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Hisar, Haryana.
Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Director of Research, and the President of IAVPHS, delivered a keynote lecture on the ‘Situation Analysis of Antimicrobial Usage and Antimicrobial Resistance in the Dairy Sector’ and apprised the participants about the IAVPHS activities and its role at the human-animal-environment interface. Dr. J.S. Bedi, Director of the Centre for One Health, presented a lead lecture in which he provided valuable insights into the interdisciplinary approach to public health challenges with evidence and implementation of One Health concept. The activities of the Centre were appreciated by the scientific fraternity. During the conference, Dr. Randhir Singh, was honoured with the Fellow IAVPHS 2023 Award for his significant contributions in the field of Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology. Among students Dr. Anamika, was bestowed with the Best Ph.D Thesis Award for his research work conducted under supervision of Dr. JS Bedi; Dr. Rhythm and Dr. Preeti secured the first position in the poster presentation in the themes Antimicrobial Resistance, Climate Change, Environment, & Wildlife and Food Safety and Public Health, respectively. Dr. Akshara Babu and Dr. Nilam Wavhal earned the second position in the poster and Oral presentation, respectively, in the theme Zoonoses and Trans-boundary Infectious Diseases.
