Vet Varsity's BTech Food Science and Technology Program Witnesses Unprecedented Admission Rush
Ludhiana, July 17, 2024: Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University is proud to announce the remarkable popularity of its newly introduced B.Tech Food Science and Technology program. The program witnessed an unprecedented rush of admissions, surpassing the demand for other prominent programs like BFSc (Fisheries) and B.Tech Animal Biotechnology. Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, said that the newly introduced B.Tech Food Science and Technology program at Vet Varsity offers a well-rounded curriculum that integrates the principles of food science with cutting-edge technology. The program has been further enhanced to include specialized courses on meat, egg, and fish processing which are the hallmarks of this university’s strength. This addition ensures students receive a holistic education covering all major aspects of food science so that graduates will have better opportunities to work with multinational companies and organizations across the globe particularly addressing processing of highly nutritious foods of animal origin.
Dr R S Sethi, Dean, College of Dairy and Food Science Technology said that with the globalization of the food industry, there is a growing demand for food science professionals worldwide. The overwhelming response to the BTech Food Science and Technology program highlights varsity’s commitment to providing high-quality education and training. As the demand for skilled professionals in the food industry continues to grow, Varsity remains dedicated to fostering the next generation of food scientists and technologists. It is worth mentioning that the university had to increase the tentative admission strength of the first batch to 50 in view of heavy demand from meritorious students. Incidentally, an undergraduate degree program on Food Science Technology is also being initiated by NDRI, Karnal.
