The entire world is looking positively towards Bharat. The concept of Bhartiyata is echoing globally. The nation is all set to be Viksit Bharat by 2047 and be the ‘Vishwa Guru’. Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankar said this while giving a clarion call to the students of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) to contribute to the cause of society and the nation. He was speaking as Chief Guest in the 18th convocation of M. D. U. today.

Rohtak, December 26, 2023: The entire world is looking positively towards Bharat. The concept of Bhartiyata is echoing globally. The nation is all set to be Viksit Bharat by 2047 and be the ‘Vishwa Guru’. Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankar said this while giving a clarion call to the students of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) to contribute to the cause of society and the nation. He was speaking as Chief Guest in the 18th convocation of M. D. U. today.

          Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankar in his inspiring address said that the students would be vanguard of Resurgent India. Use, utilization and channelization of emerging new, disruptive technologies will shape the future. He especially mentioned the immense possibilities in Quantum Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Green Technology, etc. in this regard.

          Advising the students to not lose heart on failure, and continue their efforts till success is achieved. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar said that students must script and execute their own success stories. The Vice President paid rich tributes to Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati, and urged upon the students to imbibe the teachings of Swami Dayanand in their lives.

          Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar presented Gold Medal, Silver Medal, Bronze Medal and Citations for Best Ph. D thesis awardees in the convocation function. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, on arrival in MDU campus, planted saplings, along  with his wife Sudesh Dhankar.


          Justice Surya Kant, Supreme Court of India was conferred with honrary degree of Doctor of Letters (Law)- D. Litt. Honoris Causa in the  convocation function. In his acceptance speech, Justice Surya Kant expressed the gratitude of his Alma Mater MDU for the honour. He said that with hard work, dedication, one can shape the future. Quoting Mahatma Gandhi, Justice Surya Kant said “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

          Governor Chancellor Bandaru Dattatraya said that India is heading towards the destination of Viksit Bharat as per the vision of Prime Minister Narender Modi. He said that University students can contribute to the cause of society welfare and the nation- building through Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He said that students must become Job Creators, not Job Seekers.

 MDU Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh delivering the welcome address highlighted the progress journey of MDU. He said that MDU is on the fast track to academic, research, sports, literary- cultural, social outreach excellence.

 Notably, 1216 candidates were awarded Ph. D degrees in the 18th convocation function. This includes  740 female and 476 male candidates.A commemorative souvenir was released in the convocation function today.

          MDU Registrar Prof. Gulshan Lal Taneja expressed the Vote of Thanks on the occasion.The stage was conducted by Prof. Shalini Singh and Prof. Divya Malhan, and assisted by Dr. Mahak Dangi and Dr. Ravi Prabhat.

          Vice President’s wife Dr. Sudesh Dhankar, Haryana’s Education Minister Mool Chand Sharma, Lok Sabha M. P. Dr. Arvind Sharma, Rajya Sabha M. P. Ram Chander Jangra, Additional Chief Secretary (Higher Education), Haryana Anand Mohan Sharan graced the occasion on the dais.

          Dr. Savita, wife of Justice Surya Kant, Chairperson, RCI Dr. Sharanjeet Kaur. Invited distinguished guests, Vice Chancellors and Registrars of  the neighbouring universities, Dist. Administration functionaries were present on the occasion.

          Dean, Academic Affairs Prof. Surendra Kumar, Registrar Prof. Gulshan Lal Taneja, Dean CDC Prof. A. S. Maan, Controller of Examination Dr. B. S. Sindhu, Dean, Students’ Welfare Prof. Randeep Rana, Conveners of various organizing committees, etc. contributed to the smooth functioning of the convocation function.  University Dean of Faculties, Head of University Teaching Depts., faculty members, university officials, Ph.D degree holders attended the 18th convocation function of the university.
