"We are happy that the Finance Minister has mentioned about the education sector in quite a detail in her 2020 budget speech. Particularly the announcement that there would be openness in attracting FDI and external borrowing in the education sector is a positive sign, and the education sector is seen in a different light as compared to previous years. Also, push of the government in online education is quite a progressive route to achieve GER target of the government. We are also keenly looking forward to the new education policy, as a lot of future course of education sector would be dependent on that. We are happy that it is going to be unveiled soon after due diligent process. Though budget allocation is a little disappointment, as with respect to the previous year there is an increase of only 5.8% in the budget allocation (from 93,847 in 2019 to 99,300 cr in 2020). Last year, there was a 10% increase in the budget allocation for education. Overall, I see that it is for the first-time that the education sector is looked like a progressive sector which would contribute to India’s growth story."
