Vigilance Bureau arrests Minority Commission Former Member, his pa for taking bribe Rs 10 lakh
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption campaign in the state, has arrested Lal Hussain, former member, Punjab State Minority Commission and his personal assistant, Mohabbat Meharban, for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,49,500.
Chandigarh April 12: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption campaign in the state, has arrested Lal Hussain, former member, Punjab State Minority Commission and his personal assistant, Mohabbat Meharban, for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,49,500. It is pertinent to mention here that Lal Hussain had served as member of the state minority commission from February 2020 to February 2023.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said this case has been registered against the above said persons after investigation of an online complaint lodged at the Chief Minister's anti-corruption action line against both of them.
Giving details he added that the complainant Sandeep Kumar, resident of village Chanan Wala, Fazilka district has alleged that the above said accused have demanded Rs 07 lakh per person to get job in Wakf Board or recruitment as a constable under direct quota of DGP Punjab for his brother, sister, brother-in-law and friend. He further added that the accused had already taken Rs 10,49,500 in three instalments. The complainant had recorded the conversation with Meharban in this regard and provided to the VB with complaint as an evidence.
The spokesperson added that the Bureau has investigated the allegations levelled in the complaint and registered a corruption case at VB police station flying squad-1, Punjab at Mohali against both the above mentioned persons after finding them guilty for demanding and accepting this bribe money. Both the accused have been arrested and would be produced in the competent court at Mohali. Further investigation in this case was under progress, he informed.
