Vigilance Bureau arrests Nambardar for demanding bribe Rs 50,000
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Friday arrested Subash Chander, Nambardar, of village Purewal Rajputan, Gurdaspur district for demanding a bribe of Rs.50,000.
Chandigarh May 12, 2023: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Friday arrested Subash Chander, Nambardar, of village Purewal Rajputan, Gurdaspur district for demanding a bribe of Rs.50,000.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the above mentioned accused has been arrested on the basis of an online complaint lodged by Surinder Singh, resident of village Fatehgarh Churian, tehsil Batala on the Chief Minister's Anti-Corruption Action Line.
He further informed that the said complainant has alleged in the online complaint that the above mentioned Numberdar had demanded Rs 50,000 as a bribe to attest the mutation documents of his ancestral land. The complainant further informed that he pleaded to the Numberdar to take the money in instalments on different dates to which he has acceded to.
The spokesperson revealed that during the investigation of this complaint, it was found that the said accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant and agreed to take the money in two instalments. On the basis of this enquiry, a case has been registered against the said Numberdar under the Prevention of Corruption Act at VB Police Station, Amritsar range, and further proceedings have been initiated in this regard. He would be produced in the competent court tomorrow.
