Vigilance Bureau arrests PSPCL lineman for taking Rs 35,000 bribe for restoring power connection
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption campaign on Thursday, arrested a Lineman named Ranjit Kumar, posted at PSPCL office Goneana, Bathinda district for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 35,000.

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption campaign on Thursday, arrested a Lineman named Ranjit Kumar, posted at PSPCL office Goneana, Bathinda district for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 35,000.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the above said official has been arrested on the complaint of Jaswinder Singh, resident of village Ablu, Bathinda district who have lodged a complaint on the Chief Minister's Anti Corruption Action Line in this regard.
Giving details he informed that the said complainant has alleged in his complaint that the above said power official had taken Rs 35,000 for restoring power connection to his tubewell as eight poles had been broken due to storm in April this. The complainant has recorded the conversation with the said official regarding payment of bribe money which was submitted to the VB as an evidence.
The spokesperson informed that during investigation of this plaint by the VB range Bathinda, it has came to light that no prior estimate was prepared by the concerned PSPCL office in this regard but the lineman himself installed poles to restore the power connection. The VB Bathinda unit has arrested the accused official after finding him guilty for taking a bribe of Rs 35,000 from the complainant.
In this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused power official at VB police station Bathinda range. He would be produced in the competent court tomorrow. Further investigation in this case was under progress, he added.
