Vigilance Bureau nabs CDPO Office Supervisor for accepting bribe Rs 18,000
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign under the zero tolerance policy against corruption adopted by the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led government, on Thursday arrested Harmel Kaur, Supervisor, posted in Child Development Project Office (CDPO), Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda district for taking a bribe of Rs 18,000.
Chandigarh September 12, 2023: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign under the zero tolerance policy against corruption adopted by the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led government, on Thursday arrested Harmel Kaur, Supervisor, posted in Child Development Project Office (CDPO), Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda district for taking a bribe of Rs 18,000.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the above mentioned accused has been arrested on the complaint of Reshma, resident of village Bhagi Wander, Tehsil Talwandi Sabo.
Giving details he added that the said complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said accused Harmel Kaur Supervisor had demanded Rs 80,000 for recruitment of her daughter-in-law as Anganwari worker but the deal was struck at Rs 60,000. The complainant further informed that the Supervisor had already taken Rs 35,000 from the applicant Reshma and demanding the remaining balance of amount.
The spokesperson said after the preliminary investigation, the VB has laid a trap and the accused Supervisor was arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs 18,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard a bribery case against the accused official has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at VB Police Station, Bathinda range. Further investigation in this case was under progress, he added.
