Vigilance Bureau nabs private person taking bribe Rs 10,000 for Waqf Board employee
The Vigilance Bureau (VB) have nabbed a private person identified as Inderjit Sharma Patwari, resident of M.R. College Road, Fazilka while accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 on behalf of a Waqf Board employee Nazar Ali presently posted at Fazilka.
Ferozepur, March 14, 2023: The Vigilance Bureau (VB) have nabbed a private person identified as Inderjit Sharma Patwari, resident of M.R. College Road, Fazilka while accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 on behalf of a Waqf Board employee Nazar Ali presently posted at Fazilka.
The VB officials said the above said private person has been arrested following a complaint lodged by one Surjit Singh, resident of Chak Balochan Wala (Mahalam) in Jalalabad, district Fazilka. The VB officials said that the complainant had alleged that the above said Waqf Board employee and his accomplice had demanded Rs 60,000 as a bribe to endorse title of Waqf land measuring two canal in the name of his wife. “The accused had already taken Rs 5,000 as first installment of bribe and while the rest of the payment was to paid in installments. The complainant had recorded the conversation while the accused was demanding the bribe and submitted to the VB as an evidence to book the accused”, said VB officials.
The VB officials said that the VB team from Ferozepur unit laid a trap after preliminary investigation and arrested the accused Inderjit Sharma while he was receiving the bribe of Rs 10,000 in the presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at VB police station Ferozepur. Further investigation in this case was under progress.
In this case VB has already formed teams to arrest the other absconding accused who is a resident of village Ursi Jattan, Rajpura in Patiala district.
